Policy Chat | Access Denied: Challenges on the Quest to Understanding AI on Platforms

We are proud to present our next edition of the Women in AI Austria Policy Chat! This time, let’s talk about systemic risks of AI systems on online platforms and how to monitor them 🌡

With the Digital Services Act (DSA) coming into force, vetted researchers have better tools than ever before to study and report on the effects of algorithms on social media platforms. Simultaneously, civil society organisations can continue contributing to our understanding of these effects by requesting access to publicly available data. We therefore want to take stock of the challenges that existed prior to the DSA, how the DSA will address some of these challenges and how we can help researchers in academia and civil society cope with remaining challenges in the future.
